Gamify Everything

Gamify Everything

I grew up playing sports—baseball, basketball, soccer, you name it. From a young age, I chased the thrill of winning tournaments and the rush of competing, like the time we won a huge baseball tournament in Texas as underdogs. That competitive spark? I’m now scratching that itch with marathons and ultramarathons.

I‘ve lived my life in an attempt to never let it fade. Simply put, I gamify everything…

From getting two cold calls before I sit down for lunch, to tracking how many books I’ve read this year, every activity is a new opportunity to turn my day to day into a game.

Gamification is a big part of our company culture here at OneSource. We’ve lived this out at our company with a leaderboard that shows every company record (ex: Most demos scheduled in a day, most client facing meetings in a day, the most closes in a week, and even the fast time to run up the three flights of stairs to our suite)!

Here’s a picture of one of our team members setting a record! (See the Big A## Calendar in the background too)

I even practice this in my personal life! Occasionally my wife and I even turn on a song, usually 3-4 minutes long, and see if we can finish all the dishes before the song ends!

It’s a simple idea: gamify the process, and life gets more productive—and a lot more fun.

So go make those two cold calls, break a personal record, or find a way to turn washing dishes into a game. You’ll be surprised what happens when you start keeping score.
